student organizations
Tufts has over 300 student organizations, offering wide variety of opportunities to build community, pursue interests and passions, learn, take trips, create an impact, conduct service, have fun, and so much more. The Judiciary oversees the recognition and re-recognition process for clubs, and Senate oversees the funding and budgeting of clubs. TCU-recognized clubs gain a variety of privileges, including space reservation permissions and access to funding.
All current student organization budgets for the 2024-2025 Academic year can be found here.
councils
All funded student organizations are classified into ten categories, called Councils: Cultural, Programming, Media, Religious, Performance, Miscellaneous, Pre-Professional/Academic, Political/Advocacy, Student Government, and Engineering. During the annual budgeting process, each council is assigned to a member of the Allocations Board, who is responsible for individually negotiating budgets with all the clubs in their council.
Money is also set aside for Club Sports, SMFA student organizations administered by the SMFA Student Government Association, and stipends for student leaders receiving grant-based financial aid. These allocations total over $2 .6 million and are summarized below.
Annual budgetary decisions are made on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to: group membership, event scale and frequency, material and labor costs, demonstrated financial responsibility, and the availability of resources.
department ids
Each club has a department identification number which acts as the group’s “account number” within the Treasury system. Knowing your DeptID is critical to complete budgeting, reimbursements, fund transfers, and other essential Treasury business.
All DeptIDs are in the format "A901---" followed by three digits; these are the only three digits signatories need to know. If you are a current organization signatory and are unsure of your DeptID, it can be found by locating your organization’s budget in the public database above; the three digits in the file name are the DeptID.
